I run a lot, but recently my feet have been hurting. I blame my shoes from Target, lol. I need a better running shoe. What brands would you reccomend and not reccomend?

Answer
Go to a running store and get your run evaluated. If you are running a lot, just picking a shoe out that may work for someone else is not the way to go. I was having a lot of foot problems when I first started running. It was the shoe. I went to Fleet Feet - not sure if they are a chain or not. But many true running stores will do the same thing. They had me get on a treadmill and they video taped me running. Then they go back and evaluate how I ran. I have a really bad roll out. It was horrible to watch. I was fitted for a shoe to specifically help the problem. Guess what - no more foot pain.
I need to get new ones now and went to a sports store thinking they might have that shoe (it is a Nike) and when I told her the problem she said they don't carry it - I would need to go back to the running store.
Many sports stores, while they might carry Nike, New Balance, etc., don't necessarily carry what hard core runners need. You really want someone who knows what they are talking about fit you for a shoe.

What shoes should I get for Cross Country?

So I'm doing cross country, but my running shoes are starting to get worn out. What brands are good for cross country? Just plain running shoes, or a different type of shoe? Thanks.

Answer
Hey! So I'm a cross country runner. I say go to a running shoe store - just like a special shop for runners, if you can. They will watch you run and tell you what kind of shoe you need. It's very beneficial to your season if you have GOOD shoes. Getting a good shoe prevents injury and gives support where you need it.

My shoes are ASICS Gel 1140. ASICS run high in price, but they are the number one brand. Mine were originally $85 but I got them for $76. ASICS are really really nice shoes. They make different types for every kind of runner and are top quality.

If you can't get to a special running store, go to Sports Authority or just a athletic superstore. ASICS, Nike, and Brooks are the best brands.

Make sure to ask the employees for help! Sometimes they are pretty knowledgeble :)

**Don't get flats by the way! Flats(very lightweight thin shoes) are only for racing. Trainers (basic athletic shoes) are for everything else in XC.**

Best of luck! Run hard!
