How many calories are burned from running?

sarah

I'm a 5ft 2 female. I weigh 120 pounds. If I run on the treadmill for 1 hour at 5mph, about how many calories would I burn?

Each website I check has a different number. Does anyone know a reliable site?

Answer
From the Runner's World website:

If you ran 5 miles, your NET calories burned would be:
120 * .63 = 75.6 Calories/Mile

378 Net Calories Burned from Running

This is excluding your Basal Metabolic Rate...

If BMR is included,

120 * .75 = 90 Calories/ Mile

450 Calories Burned from Running

If you want to lose some weight, try to hit 500 kcal per run... Easier if you also add easy workouts (lots of walking) along the way. Also helpful if you get a Heart Rate Monitor w/c calculates your caloric expenditure based on the amount of time you spend in your Target Heart Rate Zones. Will be immensely helpful for your training.

I recommend the Polar FT60 trainer with the STAR Training Program. You just program the watch, and just follow the program!

Good luck and have lots of fun!

What do horseback riders call one another?

Mr. Best A

Jockey is only used to describe 100 pound, 5' tall men, that wear tights and beat their horse in the ass with a stick. So what about the hobbyists?

People who run are runners. People who rock climb are climbers. Do they call each other riders or is there another term or slang for it?
Thanks and I don't doubt it. I bet what they do is exhausting.

Answer
First of all, Smarty Pants, not all jockeys are male, not any more. There are females who have been very successful in recent years and decades, including Chantal Sutherland ( who's now retired), Julie Krone, Rosie Napravnik, and several more. Many trainers prefer to employ women as grooms and exercise riders too, because they believe that women can relate to horses better than men. As for what riders call each other, that varies. "Riders" is the most common term I've heard, with an additional name that designates which sport or discipline the person is involved in. There are dressage riders, event riders, show jumping riders or show jumpers, hunter riders, equitation riders, saddle seat riders, stock seat or Western riders, and so forth. People who play polo are called polo players. People who barrel race are called barrel racers. If someone does cutting or reining, he or she is called a cutter or a reiner, depending on the sport.

Horse sports are gender neutral. Men and women compete equally with and against one another, especially in international events like the Olympic Games and the WEG. These are also the only sports in which co-ed teams are common. It's not unsual at all to see married couples competing together, or teams made up of brothers, sisters, or father and son combinations. There's even one sport, endurance riding, where there was a famous mother/daughter combination that represented the US some years ago- Valerie and Danielle Kanavy. The rules are the same for both genders in all horse sports. After all, the horses don't care what a rider's gender is, nor do they care what their riders look like or what their riders' political affliliation may be. Horses also have no concept or notion of the terms "gay" and "straight" the way humans do. It's this gender blind, race blind, color blind, and species blind attitude that makes horse sports unique.

One other note: The crop that jockeys use is very soft, and is more a noisemaker than an instrument of punishment. It doesn't hurt the horse, and there are strict rules against overuse of the whip on every track. Jockeys who break or violate such rules can face fines and loss of their license to ride, which means they can't make a living. The racing stewards are always watching what jockeys do, and they are on the lookout for poor behavior all the time. And the jockeys don't wear tights, they wear breeches, as do riders in all other English style sports. A lot of jockeys are taller than five feet, too, especially those who ride steeplechase horses. Peope who participate in harness sports are called drivers. If the sport is competitive driving, the driver may have a navigator and a brakeman along too.

Which is a better reading device the kindle or the nook?

running watches comparison chart image

Lindsay Ba

Im looking to get a digital reading device and am wondering about the differences between the two. Is the book only for barnes and noble? Which is the better purchase? Are there other features then just reading?

Answer
Hi, Lindsay Baer, Nook from Barnes & Noble is the best combination of price and features of the eReaders market. When choosing an eReader, you need to consider not only the physical properties of the device, but also compare eBook stores behind it. Sony has never been a contender for any comparison by anyone as they only have like 5 books in their Ebook store and their devices are way overpriced for what they offer. Borders is behind Kobo/Cruz devices in US and as you might of heard, Borders is on a brink of bankruptcy. Kindle and Nook are the only devices to be considered as their eBook stores have over a million of free public ebooks as well as over a million of ebooks that you need to pay for available.
Having that out of the way, you should then decide which screen you want: e-Ink or LCD. It depends on what you're reading. If just black & white novels then the better one would be Kindle or e-Ink Nook from Barnes & Noble. If you read electronic magazines or college text books with a lot of color graphs and charts or childrenâs' books with a lot of pictures then the better would be Nook Color LCD from Barnes & Noble. Then, you should understand the limitations of e-Ink eReaders - they are limited to be black & white for now they "blink" at each ebookâs page turn, they're not too good for web browsing, they need external light source for reading when dark, and they cannot handle videos.
Whichever device you choose, here's the advantages of the Nookâs (both e-Ink black & white and Nook Color) over Kindle:
- Any Barnes & Noble store provides free Wi-Fi to Nook's
- Nook allows to lend Nook books for two weeks to friends and family or share with your other devices that run B&N app (PC, MAC, Android phones, Apple iPhone, iPod and iPad, etc.) Barnes & Noble allows (when you walk in with the Nook to B&N store) to read any available eBook for free while in the store via free provided in the store Wi-Fi. With Nook, while in BN store you get exclusive articles from top authors, and great offers including cafe treats and unique deals.
- Nook (unlike Kindle) can be used for library ebooks.
- Nook (unlike Kindle) can be used for renting text-ebooks.
Nook Color is worth mentioning separately as this is a hybrid Android eReader/tablet device, something between Kindle and iPad. Even though Nook Color has LCD touchscreen, it's a new generation screen which is anti-glare coated and is better performing in sunlight and produces less glare all of which are dooming reading on iPad. Also, the screen is amazing and readable/viewable at wide angles.
Overall, Nook Color is more than e-Reader as you can also watch video and use Android applications on it. It's a hybrid device, much more than just an e-Reader but not a full tablet as it doesn't have a camera. If all you want is to read novels, the original e-Ink Nook might be better for you. If you want something more from your device (color graphs and charts of college text books, childrens books, photos and videos, web sites in full color) at half of the price of iPad or Galaxy tab, then Nook Color is your best bet.
Nook Color has several apps that already come with the device (Pandora Internet radio, QuickOffice, etc.) Also, Barnes & Noble recently released Nook SDK and Nook Developer platform that will allow most of the existing 100,000 Android apps be ported to it. Also, you can use the Social Settings screen to link your NOOK Color to your Facebook account and your Twitter account. You can also import all your contacts from your Google Gmail account. Once you have linked to Facebook and Twitter and set up email contacts, you can lend and borrow books, recommend books, and share favorite quotes with your friends.

Torn between what ereader to get my wife?

kaykay

I'd like to not spend a lot of money, but I also want the one that performs the best, and one that delivers books immediately. I'm looking at the kindle 3 nook/ nook color or maybe a sony reader. Which one in your opinion is best, and why. Which ones do you have to wait for a book after buying it?

I'm also looking at getting an Itouch for myself for ereading and all the other things it does. Any opinions on that?

What are the differences between the Garmin Forerunner 210 and 405? And which is better?

sports watch store review on ... Sports Day-Date Watch - Model 6119-6023 - Blue Face Edition review at

Alex

I already know the price differences.
Thanks.

Answer
210
Take it Further

For runners who want more training capabilities, Forerunner 210 lets you create customized interval sessions and see your pace for each interval. If youâre using the 210 with the foot pod, you will later be able to see your cadence, or steps per minute, when you upload your data to Garmin Connect.

Follow Your Heart

Some versions of our Forerunner 210 come bundled with our premium soft strap heart rate monitor to display your heart rate in beats per minute. It has five heart rate zones, which you can customize based on your exact zones. You can also set up heart rate alerts to notify you when you are above or below your targets. Forerunner 210 provides heart rate-based calorie computations so you can more accurately track your calories burned.

Outdoors or In

We took the easy-to-use operations of the Forerunner 110 and added indoor capabilities, making the 210 the perfect sport watch for those who like options. For outdoor runs, Forerunner 210 uses GPS to accurately record your time, pace and distance. To track that same data at the gym, snap the foot pod¹ onto your shoe and youâre good to go. Using advanced accelerometer technology, the foot pod collects and sends precise data about your movements, gathering distance and speed data that is 98 percent accurate for most users, right out of the box.

For even more options, Forerunner 210 also works with certain indoor fitness equipment so you can track and store data from a treadmill run or an indoor cycling workout. This capability helps you bridge the gap between your indoor and outdoor fitness activities so you can continually track your progress. See a list of fitness facilities and compatible equipment.

Store, Analyze and Share

Whether youâre training for a race or launching a healthier lifestyle, youâll love the motivation that comes from reviewing your workouts online. Tracking your data is simple with Garmin Connectâ¢, our website for free data analysis and sharing. Just upload to Garmin Connect from your PC or Mac, then see the route you traveled on a map, view a summary of your workout data, create goals and more. For indoor activities when the GPS isnât in use, you wonât see mapping in Garmin Connect, but youâll still have a record of your workout data.

405
Watch Results

Loaded with serious training features, Forerunner 405 continuously monitors your time, distance, pace, calories and heart rate (when paired with heart rate monitor). Each run is stored in memory so you can review and analyze the data to see how you've improved. You even can download recorded courses to compete against previous workouts or race a Virtual Partner®. Customize Forerunnerâs data screens for instant feedback while you train.

Use with Ease

Sport watch and personal trainer, Forerunner 405 gives you the best of both worlds in a sleek, stylish package. This high performance watch is easy to use and comfortable to wear when not training. Simply tap the touch bezel to change screens without fumbling for a button. Forerunner 405 comes in 2 colors â black or green â to fit your style.

Run, Sync, Store and Share

Once youâve logged the miles, innovative ANT+⢠wireless technology automatically transfers data to your computer when the Forerunner is in range. No cables, no hookups. The dataâs just there, ready for you to analyze, categorize and share through our online community, Garmin Connect⢠or our optional Garmin Training Center® software. You can wirelessly send workouts from your computer to Forerunner, too.

Share Wirelessly

With Forerunner 405 you can share your locations, advanced workouts and courses wirelessly with other Forerunner 405 users. Now you can send your favorite workout to your buddy to try, or compete against a friend's recorded course. Sharing data is easy. Just select âtransferâ to send your information to nearby units.

Track Heart Rate

Forerunner 405 is available with or without a heart rate monitor (see the versions tab) to help you make the most out of your training. Versions with a digital heart rate monitor continuously track heart beats per minute. Train in a certain heart rate zone to improve your fitness level or compare your pace and heart rate to past performance on the same run.

Cross-Train

Take your training inside with the versatile Forerunner 405. Pair it with an optional foot pod to track your speed, distance and running cadence indoors when a GPS signal is unavailable. This new design clips onto your laces for easy removal and automatically turns on when you start moving. You also can add a speed/cadence bike sensor to track the speed and distance of your cycling workouts.

Lock Onto Satellite Signals

Forerunner 405 sports a unique design that gives the GPS antenna a better view of the sky, so it can get a stronger signal during your run. And its high-sensitivity GPS receiver provides improved tracking under trees and near tall buildings.

What should I do in New York City for the weekend?

I am planning to go to NYC for a weekend. I have never been there and I want to see the parts that make NYC NYC.

Please don't advise me to see the empire state bldg or the statue of liberty. Those are obvious.
I want restaurants and hang-out spots.
Thanx in advance.

PS-I live in Chicago.

Answer
A popular way to see the city is by boat. It's one New York City trip you won't want to miss, and still my favorite way to get the best idea of the City. This 90 minute twilight harbor cruise gives you a wonderful way to see the city and watch the twinkling lights come on.

Some thingsyou don't want to miss are the various neighborhoods, like lower Manhattan's Chinatown, go for authentic dim sum and other Chinese delights. Orchard Street on Sunday mornings especially has always been a delight for shopping and eating bialys and bagels. Artsy Soho with all it's galleries and the trendy TriBeCa. Of course Greenwich Village and now the East Village as well are always a great place to sightsee.

There are museums, not only The Metropolitan and MOMA, but wonderful smaller ones like the Frick Museum and of course, Frank Lloyd Wright's masterpiece, The Guggenheim with it's outstanding modern art collection. You can wander for days in these museums. Art movies have always been the thing in New York, I'm sure you'll find a running of "The Red Shoes" still on.

Central Park is always an interesting place to go. Located in the very center of Manhattan surrounded by high-rise buildings. Try jogging around the reservoir (made famous by Jackie Kennedy - who jogged there on regular basis). The Central Park Zoo is fun and carriage rides from Central Park South through and around the Park make for a most romantic evening.

Stroll up or down Fifth Avenue for shops galore, don't miss going into St. Patrick's at 50th and Fifth, and the Empire State Building can still thrill.

For even more things to do and see in NYC, visit hotelsntravel.com it's a great site.

Where do I find a reputable babysitter in Manhattan?

mjmorell

I am visiting NYC with my wife and two kids. Staying in an apartment that a friend is letting me use. I want to go out one night without kids but don't know any babysitters? Can anyone suggest a referral service with an excellent reputation?

Answer
That's tough. Most of my friends who have kids have someone they know personally watch their kids. I would check out these places though:

Pinch Sitters
212-260-6005
Sitters who have been subjected to a thorough background check charge $16 an hour (cash only), with a four-hour minimum, plus additional transportation fees when the job runs later than 9 p.m. Two families can prearrange to share one sitter, averaging $20 per hour. Parents are charged $35 for canceling within 24 hours. Services are available only in Manhattan and select areas of Brooklyn and Queens.
Baby Sittersâ Guild
60 E. 42nd St., near Madison Ave.
212-682-0227

babysittersguild.com
In business for over a half century, the Guild can dispatch a bilingual sitter (sixteen languages are represented), or one with a nursing background, to all five boroughs. Rates start at $20 per hour and vary with age (sitters are 25 and older; parents can request a particular age). There is a minimum of four hours, plus $4.50 for travel costs until midnight, $7 thereafter.

I was watching Spongebob and decided to have a little snack. As I inserted my poptart into the toaster it quickly got up and took the toaster with him or her. What should I do?

Answer
I hate when that happens. I finally had to give up PopTarts after losing 3 toasters (one was a 4-slice, that really hurt). You'll never get it back, they're stripped & sold for parts or smuggled into Canada where the RCMP use them for target practice.

What is the best way to target fat in the upper thigh/butt region?

bethsensen

I've been consistently losing fat in other areas of my body, but I've noticed that this area is very stubborn for me. Is there any particular exercise to target the fat in this area, or do I just need to step up my regular cardio routine to eventually burn it off?

Answer
Try biking, running, or just run up and down flights of stairs more often. Be sure to watch what you eat, because a lot of the fat you are eating can be stored in your butt and thigh area.

The law and the new TV sets?

best watch for ultra runners on ... Strap Watch | Blog | Best Casual Watches For Sale - Yahoo! Blog
best watch for ultra runners image

Benjamin W

The FCC has decided that a good, working TV will be obsolete, and we all have to buy new sets. Ok...I may be in the minority, but I don't care much for super life like images...I'd rather go into real life and see it.

For those who do want an ultra crisp picture, let them get that new set, but don't force the rest of us to.

I compare this to radio. I've had very old radios that still would work today using today's signals. There co-exists satellite radio on another bandwidth for higher quality programs, that those ppl who want it can pay for.

Again, why, are we being forced to buy a new TV set, if what we have isn't broken, and if the individual doesn't want a newer TV.

I smell a rat here, and wanna know what's REALLY going on.

Answer
When I recently purchased an HD flat screen I was plesantly surprised to noticed a few more channels that I don not get on the other sets in our house, (easy to determine as we only use anteane), subsequently, by their use of the word obsolete, doesn't mean older models will quit working. Its just that the stations availiable will continue to be minimal, and decreasing in numbers, as the numbers of people who own newer models grow. This is as inevitable as the sales of 8 track tapes gave way to, cassettes, gave way to disc, now giving way to many new pocket sized uploadable microchip data storage. As the technology increases, also does the market and competition, to make better and cheaper, which just eventually bleeds over to even the most frugal of consumer. Imagine how much was paid for the first digital watches that can now be found in gumball machines, (and thats with separate time zones, games, and other added features) As for the "rat" theory, I think its only logical to assume, that there are information gathering technologies involved, in these everyday items. There will always be the "weak can't compete so cheat" , "save all the best jobs for OUR separate faction favoritism gang" which rapes the "all men are created equal concept" and the "Team Human populate the Universe" ideology, we will either evolve toward, or become extinct. We won't get a better container to land in if we destroy this one. We will be looking out the eyeballs of an insect, remembering all the times we were human and did nothing to make it better...and would trade a million years of bug servitude (carrying bug sh!ts back and forth) for just one day in the life of a human you may now think you dispise. Obviously government will have higher levels of technology than an ordinary citizen, but who gets to make these determinations.... of who is allowed knowledge, and is able to be on the "GET" side of corruption, and who is labeled "slave class". It really won't matter though, because soon enough of us will evolve to see all forms of separtatists hoarding as the tatle tale signs of the weak and cowardly. In the Olympics do they saw off 2 feet of the stick of the best pole vaulter? or strap lead weights on the fastest runners? The fairness concept is one of honor to those who deserve their rightful place, by the standard of working harder, learning more, because they simply cared enough to make some contribution, and would rather turn down some easy money scam, than give up their integrity of "being". This sense of loyalty to all others equally, is the all inclusive gift within realization of existence experience, that those who are flippant and sneaky, are only of the pathetic class who the higher evolved will always feel sorry for, no matter how much luxury they flaunt. This does not imply that all those who have a decent level of comforts are necessarily negative function, some are just better with money., but all this is probably more for a society, humanity, thread...sorry if I prattled on a bit.

Long Distance Runners vs. Short Distance Runners?

Runner

Ok so me and my friend got into a debate. I say that long-distance runners [such as cross country runners like myself] are REAL runners because they have the endurance. Whereas he claims that short distance runners [such as sprinters like he is] are the REAL runners because they have the speed.
Who is right & whyy?

Answer
One person says, "I can do the 100M dash in under 11 seconds."
The second person says, "I can do a sub 40 min. 10K"
A third person says, "I can do a marathon sub 3 hours".
A fourth person says, "I can do a sub 40 min 10K run, after a 1500M swim and 25mile bike."
An 80 year old nun says, "I plan to be the first woman over the age of 80 to complete the Ironman."
To Sister Madonna Buder you're both ultra short distance runners but runners none the less.

What radioisotope makes watch hands glow in the dark?

j_s_j_c_c

So I did this practical about the penetrating power of radiation, and there's a question which asks: "Some watches use emitting radioisotopes to make the hands glow in the dark. Comment on the safety implications of this method." So there's this gap between 'use' and 'emitting' and it think its supposed to say alpha, beta or gamma (but with the symbol). I can answer the question if I knew what kind of radioisotope made the watch hands glow and what kind of emitter it is. So any help would be appreciated.

Answer
There have been a few different compounds used to luminesce watch markers.

Most modern quality watches used Luminova, a brand name for a Strontium Oxide Aluminate compound.

Ball watch uses Tritium micro gas tubes, which do not require charging, but will stop glowing as the radioactivity of the tritium runs out.

Some older style watches used a Radium based compound for their glow paints.

Runners: what device can be used to measure the speed and distance that you run?

I am not interested in the Ipod-Nike shoes. I liked more the bracelet that connects to the Nike shoes.

But I am not interested on buying running shoes. All I need is the device that you can carry with you (watch kinda thing)
What brands and models can you recommend?

Answer
Hello,

I run with the Garmin Forerunner 201...and I love it. It instantaneously tells me my pace, distance and time. I use it for marathon training and races from 5k to 26.2. It also has a lot of interval and mapping features...very cool toy. The 201 is an older generation. I'd check out the 205, 305, and 405. See the review below. Good luck!

What should I do to get into great running shape?

best timex watch for runners image

Tinker

I am 17 years old, a female. I weigh around 135 and am about 5'1. I am not in the best shape, and would to be able to lose about 15 lbs in about 3 months. I can walk for miles, but running and I don't get along. yet. Any suggestions on how to get in great shape, being able to run for longer periods of time? and about water, is it good or bad to drink a ton just before running?

Answer
I am a big proponent of the couch to 5 K running program (C25K). It's a walk to run program and its one of the best.

The C25K program slowly increases your effort over 9 weeks. I did it and I really liked the fact that I could see each week I was making progress and I never really felt like it was too hard.

You will have to get a sports watch that can be programmed to do intervals. I really like Timex watches; the trainer line is pretty good. And some of them have Heart Rate Monitors which is a nice way of monitoring your effort. Casio makes a interval timer that's simple and inexpensive, W756-1A, you can find it at amazon for $20. Or buy a Gymboss for $20. All the Gymboss does is time intervals, but its real simple to use and program.

If you have an iPod, you can download a podcast that is the couch to 5 K program and you won't even need a watch. And if you have an iPod touch or iPhone, you can download the Interval Run app for $2. It is easy to use and is pre-programmed with the C25K and several other programs.

If you're really thinking of getting a heart rate monitor, and you don't have an iPhone, then take a bigger plunge and get a GPS Heart rate monitor watch. They have the interval timers built in, and you can monitor both your distance and your effort. I like the Garnin 405.

Once you graduate from the C25K program they have other programs that are more advanced. I still do intervals once in a while. A lot of runners do them once a week. So you can plan on using your timer for a long time.

Can someone reccomend some kind of plan for starting running? To make it easier?

Yeahh

Not going to lie here, I am a bit overweight.
But I want to start running.
I have been running/jogging some, but ive noticed that after a few days my legs feel tired and it gets harder.
Is there any way to minimize this?

I really like Timex watches, the trainer line is pretty good. and some of them have Heart Rate monitors which is a nice way of monitoring your effort. Casio makes a interval timer that's simple and inexpensive - W756-1A - you can find it at amazon for $20. Or buy a Gymboss for $20. all it does is do intervals but its real simple to use and program.

If you have an iPod, you can download a podcast that is the couch to 5 K program and you won't even need a watch. And if you have an iPod touch or iPhone, you can download the interval timer app for $2. It is super easy to use. and is pre-programmed.

I want to watch this series/show but YouTube doesn't have it. I tried looking at other websites I usually go in my computer but it doesn't work somehow. So can you tell me any free websites that lets you watch movies or shows, etc that you know??
Thanks in advance.

Answer
you can try this website:
movieonhand.com/blog/
it let's you both stream and download movies. The quality is a bit low for newer movies but it gets updated frequently. They run just perfectly on my phone with no glitches. A link on top of the site also directs you to a site where you can watch free iPod optimized anime in mp4 format.

4megaupload.com/
this website lets you download almost any, ANY known movie in mp4 format. Just search manually like 'Inception movie 2010' and it should be there...
Hope the two links help!! :)

demi

I really enjoy watching dramas that have romance and comedy like boys over flower, your beautiful and etc. But what are some korean dramas released in 2010 that are really good? Can i have a list of some of the best dramas with a small description? thank you!

Answer
The site I use to watch dramas are Mysoju - it updates it weekly and a lot of dramas that are aired and allowed to be put up are on there as well as Dramacrazy.

I like the type of dramas you like by the sounds of it, I love anything korean but they got to have romance, comedy and a bunch of good looking characters lol you should try out some variety shows I'm sure you'll like it as they have grown on me since I started watching them!

New ones recently are:
Mary stayed out all night - very good
My Princess - Funny and really cute
Secret Garden - got a bit bored but its different with a strong female lead
Fugitive Plan B - action/romance/comedy got a lot of running hence the title fugitive but if you like Bi Rain, Daniel Henney and Danny Ahn then you must watch this as its got them in it!!

However you cannot miss out on ones that came out last year and before that because they are just as worth watching as the new ones!
Mischievous kiss - If u have not watched this where the hell have you been, got the same guy from boys over flowers kim hyun joong <3
King of baking Kim Tak Gu - This is insanely good, seriously so touching and great acting!
My girlfriend is a gumiho - I loved this so much! Don't overlook it! It's exactly what your looking for!
Coffee Prince - May been a while since its out but still a favourite of many and so funny

If you would like for me to email all the dramas I've seen email me on foreva_ursxoxo@yahoo.com.

Why do they take off/blur the badge on luxury cars in Korean dramas?

deliciousK

I am watching a Korean drama called DUMMY MOMMY and I noticed that the Audi logo on the cars are replaced with a silhouette-like piece. I remember watching another drama where the Mercedes badge was blurred out. Can anyone give an explanation for this? :)

Answer
Short Answer: It's illegal to show brands on TV, but some programs now allow product placement. They will announce product placement before the show begins, though.

Long Answer:

In many shows it is illegal to show brands, because it amounts to unfair competition, so logos are often blurred or covered with tape. (Other times, it is because companies may not want their products associated with a story. Imagine an Audi executive sitting at home watching TV and seeing one character kill another by running over her with an Audi.)

Only recently have shows allowed companies to pay for their product names to be shown on TV.

Extra: Other things that are blurred on TV are cigarettes and knives (used as weapons) because it's illegal to show them on TV as well.

running watch lap timer image

kasbow

I want to time my races but I don't want to pay a lot for it.

Answer
I got my running watch (a Timex Ironman 30-lap) @ Walmart for only $12...and it works great, has a chrono that times laps and splits, an alarm, 2 time zones, a timer, indiglo lighting, can function in military time, and is water resistant up to 100 meters.

Good Luck! :D

What are the best features to look for in a running sports watch?

Answer
I have always liked to wear a watch a my presences are that:
1.HAS TO BE CONFORMABLE.
2. Has to be waterproof (triathlons, forgot it is on, everyday use.)
3.Has a good format (not hard to use)
4.Durable
5.Has lap recall. (it can be as small as 30 to as high as 100)
6.Has count down timer and alarms

I have always liked timex and found that there best running watches are there iron man watches. They can be pricey but are great i would fully recommend them.

What are the proofs that a man is cheating or having an affair or at least like another woman?

running watches women gps on ... Forerunner-10-Running-GPS-Watch-Violet-White-Purple-Women-010-01039-17
running watches women gps image

coolit

I dont really know if my husband is having an affair to another woman. I dont have any proofs but my instinct. I need help. Thanks.

Answer
I do believe in women's intuition, if your radar has gone up there is usually a reason. Here are a few tips you may want to consider:

1) Cell Phone- if you can get your hands on his cell phone, check the text messages. If he is cheating, chances are that he has put a lock code on it. The way to get your hands on his cell would be to let the battery die on yours while the two of you are out and ask to borrow his. If he is reluctant to share it- BIG RED FLAG. If he does give it up, go to the ladies room and check out the text messages & recent calls. By the way, before you do this PRACTICE on an identical phone to his so that you are not fumbling around with it once you get it. If you do find something incriminating- DO NOT CALL HIM OUT ON IT YET. Play it cool.

2) Credit Card bills- Guys are not stupid and will not use their credit cards. If however you do have some way of getting your hands on his credit card charges, look for the usual suspects like hotels & flowers. What you really want to check though is his wallet for a CASH DEBIT CARD. These are easily obtainable at Walmart or CVS and allows your hubby to dump thousands of dollars of cash on it so he can use it for hotels, gifts, etc.. If you see one of these that you are not privy to...watch out.

3) GPS- If he has a GPS in his car, check to see the last addresses he has been Most guys are good about deleting their text messages, but not so diligent with the GPS in their car. It could have information about the address of her work or other meeting spots. If his GPS has a couple of local hotels on it...you know the deal.

4) Working Out- This is one of the best excuses for getting out of the house. Going to the gym, running errands, etc.. The way to check this one (short of following him of course) would be to call him on his cell and ask him "Honey...where are you right now?" You'll need to do this in a casual way so that he does not pick up on your suspicion, but the point of the question is that most guys are terrible at keeping a "time & place" reconciliation off the top of their head. For example, say he claims to be heading to the gym. If he goes somewhere else and you ask that question 10-min after he's been driving, it is not easy to determine EXACTLY where he is supposed to be and have it coincide with a trip to the gym. He will almost always dodge the question, or give an intersection that does not jive.

5) Timelines- This one is very tricky for cheaters to keep in their head, especially if they've been with out for a few hours. Most of the time a guy will have a good excuse planned out in case he needs to provide an accounting of where he has been the past few hours after he gets home. The trick here is to NOT ASK the question at that moment. Pretend you did not even notice his absence and have the usual chit-chat, dinner, etc.. The NEXT DAY however, casually bring it up and ask "where were you yesterday for 3-hours?" This is a major curve ball since chances are he may have forgotten the BS story he had planned to give and rehearsed in his car on the way home. By asking when he least expects it (especially when he thought he was off the hook), it will make it difficult to keep a credible timeline.

6) Comes home Late, leaves EARLY next day: Most hotels have a 3:00pm check-in, and a 12:00pm check-out the following day. Cheating couples like to maximize the use of the hotel room and will arrange for an early morning romp before the 12:00pm check-out. So, a good sign might be that he leaves the following morning earlier than usual. Also, if he comes home smelling squeaky clean like he just took a shower....he just took a shower.

7) Privacy Screens on Cell Phone & Computer: There are very inexpensive privacy screens that one can affix to their phones or laptops so that the content can only be viewed by looking at it directly, and impossible for anyone standing at an angle. If he bought these recently....watch out.

8) 2nd Cheap Cell Phone: Most cheaters will buy a cheap 2nd cell phone to "firewall" the phone numbers from their real life and their fantasy cheating life. If he has a 2nd cell phone (locked of course) that is a pre-paid, it MAY be an indicator. It might also be that he uses one for work and the other for personal, so it's more of a sign if he recently purchased it (i.e. 2 or 3 months).

9) Rattle his Cage: Nothing makes a cheater's stomach turn to knots more than conversations about "OTHER" cheaters. That is, begin a conversation with "Honey, guess who I just found out was cheating? Go ahead....take a guess?" Pause for a little bit so you can gauge his reaction. If he is guilty of cheating, he might turn pale as he waits for your response, Don't make it obvious that you were fishing for his answer, and continue the conversation with "So-and-so from across the street found out her husband was cheating....yadda yadda yadda."

10) New Clothes, New Body, New Attitude: Another tell-tale sign is that he starts tak

Style- What is the best/coolest watch one guy can buy for $1000? What is the best one that has a digital alarm?

TJ Wharton

What's the best Tablet to buy, for using the internet?

running watch vs iphone app on View bigger - 3D Pong Tricks for iPhone screenshot
running watch vs iphone app image

John

If you want to surf the internet, watch Youtube etc.

Answer
Tablets are all generally designed for using the Internet and watching videos, so it'd help to add additional criteria to help you decide on which tablet would be best for you. Some ideas...

If cellular service is important to you, you may want to consider which tablet your favorite carrier supports:

Verizon:Galaxy Tab 10.1, iPad 2, Xoom, and Galaxy Tab
T-Mobile:G-Slate, Streak 7, and Galaxy Tab
Sprint:PlayBook and Galaxy Tab
AT&T:iPad 2 and Galaxy Tab
None:Eee Slate, Slate 500, TouchPad, Thrive, Eee Pad TF101, Iconia Tab A500, Archos 101, Archos 70, and NOOK Color

If saving money is important to you, $250 can get you a Nook Color, which has an ereader orientation but is really a budget, 7-inch, camera-less, tablet running Android 2.2.

If Windows OS compatibility or a digitizer pen is important to you, go for the ASUS Eee Slate or HP Slate 500. The biggest differences between those are that the ASUS has a better display (12.1 inch AFFS 1280x800) than the HP (8.9 inch TFT 1024x600) but is larger, heavier and more expensive.

If high-end video recording is important to you, consider the LG G-Slate or BlackBerry Playbook, both of which can record at 1080p.

For overall value, the ASUS Eee Transformer (TF101) has surprisingly good specs for under $400: Android 3.1, 10.1 inch 1280x800 IPS (like iPad, but bigger and higher resolution) display, up to 9 hours of battery life (16 hourass if optional dock added), optional ability to dock with keyboard, 1 GHz Tegra 250 ARM CPU with 1 GB RAM, good array of ports (mini HDMI, SD, micro SD), preloaded Polaris Office 3.0 for editing documents (.doc), spreadsheets (.xls) and presentation (.ppt) files. Note, though, no 3G (however people report success in tethering it to smart phones).

The iPad (0.34 inches) and Galaxy Tab 10.1 (0.336 inches) are the thinnest. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 (1.25 lbs) is the lightest of the big-screen (greater than 9 inch) tablets.

iPad 2 Advantages:

IPads have a higher degree of fit-and-finish than the competition. Like iPhones vs other smart phones, iPods vs other MP3 players, or Macs vs PC's, iPads are widely regarded as being more refined and polished than the competition. iPad also has a large and refined App Store (although Android Market is closing the gap).

iPad 2 Disadvantages:

1. No Flash.
2. No SD expansion; no HDMI port; no USB port.
3. ASUS Eee Transformer has a better display (10.1 inch, 1280x800, IPS vs 9.7 inch, 1024x768, IPS) for less money.
4. PlayBook and G-Slate have better rear camera video recording (1080p vs 720p).
5. PlayBook has much better front camera video recording (1080p vs VGA).
6. Almost all tablets have better camera resolution than iPad's lousy 0.7 MP.

Motorola Xoom is heavier and thicker than the iPad 2 and Galaxy Tab 10.1. The Xoom's advantage is that it has HDMI out and micro USB ports. It also has a 5MP rear camera compared to Tab's 3MP. The Xoom has a front webcam and a 720p rear video camera; the Tab has only the 720p rear video camera.

What is the best tablet out there?

Alex

I am trying to get a tablet and I am willing to spend up to $600. I am planning on using it for games, simple web browsing, watching videos, social networking (including video chatting), and also a bit of writing (taking notes). I was thinking of an ipad 2 but the bad thing about it is that it doesn't support flash. 10 points= best answer!!!!

hi, im looking for a running watch with gps features that record my pace, distance, and time, i would appreciate any recommendations. thanks!

Answer
I have the Garmin 210 and I love it. Very simple to use and it has all the things you're looking for. I paid $200, you can also pay something like $270 to get the watch, heart monitor, and foot pod to record distance inside but I don't need those things. The 210 isn't bulky so it can be used as a normal everyday watch if you wanted, some of the running watches out there I don't think you could do that although I guess you could but it would look strange. If you're looking to buy any GPS watch check out DC Rainmakers blog, he does fantastic reviews of GPS watches among other things.

How much would great runners like Kenenisa Bekele get paid if they lived in America?

Q. Kenenisa Bekele, Haile Gebreselassie and many other Ethiopian and Kenyan Runners are the top runners in the world. They own the record for over 5-10 events and win cross country championships 5 years in a row (I looked it up). What if these elite athletes lwere born here in the USA. Would they be famous? Would many people love to watch the sport of running more? Any answers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time?

Answer
They would be famous.....but really only to those who care about running or watch running events. They probably be like a average baseball player....if you care about the sport, sure you'd recognize them while out. If not you wouldn't even know they were famous. Don't know if it would draw much more interest in people watching the sport.....it's just not a thing spectators like to watch.
