Steve

At the moment i am 101kgs, 5,9ft tall and aged 17. I run every morning before i eat, and i watch what I eat, no pasta cheese bread softdrinks. I mainly eat protein like eggs and ham and I 3days outta 7 I have a gym work out doing interval training on the rowing machine. How much weight should i approxamitly be losing a week. (Been doing this for 4 weeks now).

Answer
You can't starve yourself. You need at least 1600 calories intake each day. Your body still has to function normally and keep from getting hungry.

Typically 2 lbs per week is the most you can do. 1 lb a week is more realistic. So 4-8 lbs. I would go more by looks then weight. The scale can say the exact same thing forever but you can see the change in the mirror. I have no idea why but thats the way it is.

3800 calories = 1 lb

You want a lifelong lifestyle change. Slower and more permanent of a change the better.

The fitday.com website should give the best idea of weight loss expectations.

How long would I have to excercise to lose 20 pounds?

Q. Say if I did 45 minutes of high intensity interval training at least 6 times a week (and nothing else) but also try to watch what I eat. How long would it take?
@Lovelyy what type of excercise did you do each day for an hour?

thanks for the answers guys :)

Answer
If you watch what you eat, meaning that you eat healthy and enough to cover your BMR (so you donât get a lower metabolism), then 20 pounds is 70,000 calories of exercising (3,500 calories for each pound of body fat that you wish to lose).
45 minutes x 6 times a week = 270 minutes x 8 calories per minute (an average) = 2,160 weekly average calorie expenditure with exercising.
70,000 divided by 2,160 = 32 weeks (7 and a half months).

Womenâs Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR):
655 + (4.35 x weight in pounds) + (4.7 x height in inches) - minus (4.7 x age in years)

Menâs Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR):
66 + (6.23 x weight in pounds) + (12.7 x height in inches) - minus (6.8 x age in years)

You should not worry about how long it takes to lose weight...the slower, the better your chance to keep it off.
Personally, I would never have to lose 20 pounds as I would realize that my clothes donât fit anymore if I gain 10 pounds and go up a size or if I stop exercising, lose muscle mass, get weaker and fatter and also go up a dress size and get belly fat without even gaining weight.

If youâre in it for the long run, you should lose weight for 2 months then maintain your weight for a month. In your case it would be like losing weight for the first 2 months, then maintain your weight the third month, then lose weight for the fourth and fifth month then maintain your weight for the sixth month, then lose weight for the seventh and eighth month, then maintain your weight for the ninth month, then lose weight for the tenth month (I am getting boring here?).

Your body will make you sick to make you stop losing weight for months. Youâll get headaches, flu like symptoms or indigestion.
