Q. I'm looking for a GPS watch that isn't too bulky, isn't too expensive, and comes with renowned, interactive software that my girlfriend can use without throwing a fit and kicking my computer. It doesn't need to have a heart rate monitor and it doesn't have to be gender specific.
Also, I am willing to download software if there are better ones out there for running. I know all about Map My Run, but I'd rather have it work with the watch.
Thanks

I really like Garmin GPS watches and the Garmin Forerunner 405 is probably the cheapest in the series that still has GPS capabilities.

Do you need a foot pod to show pace on a GARMIN Forerunner 405?

I am looking top buy a GARMIN Forerunner 405 but im getting confused in whether or not i need to buy the foot pod to allow me to see my pace?
Are there any other watches "good" that shows pace and distance ran?
Answer
The Garmin Forerunner 405 does not use a foot pod, it is completely gps. My friend has the 405 but it sucks at pace. The distance is about right, but the pace is always like 11:00 mile. My other friend has a 205 which seems very accurate always around 8:00 mile which is what we run. But I don't know if every 405 in inaccurate or if it is just his that his messed up.
