Hi, I am going on a cruise soon and was wondering if when I run on the track that is on the cruise, will the distance and pace results of my Garmin Forerunner 450 (gps running watch) be messed up because of the ship's motion?
Answer
Although I don't have such a watch, I'm quite sure the answer is yes. GPS determines the longitude and latitude and calculates distance, speed, etc from that. Your cruise ship should have a sign on the walking deck that states how far one lap is.

Tips to keep a steady jogging pace and breathing?
Jellllay
i have tryouts, and we have to run laps around the field. i lose my breath really easily, but ive been training for my sport and for some reason i lose my breath and end up walking. what are some tips to keep a good, steady pace and better ways to breath to keep me from losing my breath.
Answer
Losing your breath is usually a function of the effort your are making relative to the condition you are in. So, even if you have been training for your sport, it is possible you will reach a point that you have to stop running because you are out of breath and walk. Another possibility is that you start running to fast (for your present level of conditioning, get out of breath and have to walk.
In any case to answer your question, you say yo have to run laps around a field. Well to pace yourself you need a watch with a second hand, say you are running the laps in 5 minutes, well when you get to half a lap you should be around 2 1/2 minutes, any faster slow it down, any slower pick it up. If you can't pick it up then your are not incondition to run at that speed.
Good luck!
