best heart rate monitor watch?

Chloe M

My boyfriend is massively into running, not paticularly long distance (although he does this once a week) but more sprinting and interval training. He loves keeping fit in general and i keep hearing him talk to his friends about heart rate monitor watches! now im completely clueless but would love to buy him a really nice one for his birthday, but i have no idea where to start? What make is best? what should i look out for? I know he wouldn't like anything too big and bulky as he has really small wrists, please help

Answer
You can look up heart rate monitors online and look for reviews (review heart rate monitor)...if you get him one, get one with the chest strap as it will automatically send his heart rate to the watch so all he has to do is look at it to get a reading, not hold his finger on the edge for the watch to take a reading (many of that type don't work well while you're moving around)...

I bought mine at Wal-Mart for about $50 or less, nearly 2 yrs ago...I've gotten lots of use out of it, and wear it 4 or 5 days a week when working out...

do you know of any good dependable heart rate monitor watches. i mainly want to use it for running?

i might also use it for swimming but mainly for running, and are there any ones that are rechargeable. nothing to expensive, unless its completely worth it.

Answer
The basic Polar (FS1) is a good and reliable heart rate monitor. It isn't rechargeable but the batteries last a very long time.
If you want to spend a little money you can get monitors that have more functions and Polar is a good buy. I've had several different brands and the best for me was Polar.
