time and mile stopwatch?

wolf

Hey, i was just wondering as i want to do the military run fitness test is there a piece of equipment i can purchase which will calculate how long i have run and the time i have taken? or can you at least tell me how to calculate a mile myself so i can time myself :) thanks

Answer
I believe "a piece of equipment i can purchase which will calculate how long i have run and the time i have taken" are both the same thing, a watch. If you have one, mapmyrun.com will give you the distance you have run. It will measure from your front door to wherever you run and back if you wish, even include changes in elevation.

I need some running tips!?

today for my soccer team i have to run 7 1/2 miles( 30 laps ) in an hour. And last year when they had the same event i only ran 6 miles ( 24 laps ) in an hour. Any help on keeping breathing down and running faster?

Answer
run 5 mi/day with wind sprints. Make sure it's measured 5 miles and you know where the miles are. Use a watch or a stopwatch to time yourself. Get a book on running form and have someone watch you so you can cut down inefficiencies. Aim to cut 5 seconds per day off each mile. If you train for a month you should be able to do this. Your target is 8 minutes per mile. You're currently running 10 minute miles.
