I've been working on a book for a while now and I would love to get it published. Where do I begin? Thank you so much!

Answer
The thing is a "small publisher" can actually be a publisher that is pretty damn big. Only 5 publishers that publish fiction in English are left in the world. They are huge multinationals caused by dozens and dozens of mergers. So when people say a BIG publisher, they only mean one of these five. But there are still a lot of so called "small publishers" that are quite substantial and successful and not to be sneezed at. Then there are the micro publishers.
Anyway you haven't even said if your book is fiction or non fiction or what genre it is, whether it is for adults or kids or anything which makes it hard to take you seriously. And that kind of attitude is what leads to scammers. Scammers are vanity publishers that will take anything as long as you give them money and these are huge successful mutinational companies too, actually most of the vanity publishers are run by one huge scamming multinational called Author Solutions.
Everything they say is a lie and all they do is scam. If you hand over money and try to buy your way into being published you will end up with nothing, no matter how many lies they tell you your book won't sell.

Real publishers have submission guidelines and only take certain specific types of books like this

You either choose to submit to an agent to try and get a shot at the Big Five or you submit to places like the above.
Or you self publish for free on Smashwords. .

How did advertising during the Super Bowl start?

Answer
The phenomenon of Super Bowl commercials is an interesting American story and pretty much unique to the Super Bowl event..

Like most free TV programming, the network showing the Super Bowl sells time slots to advertisers. The amount the networks charge is based on the TV ratings. The higher the ratings, the more people are watching and the more advertisers are willing to pay.

In the early Super Bowls, the commercials weren't anything special. The advertisers bought time and generally ran commercials that had previously been used for other sports programming.

But by the mid-1970's the Super Bowl ratings were breaking records and advertisers started creating new commercials to be introduced during the game. In most cases, the commercials were then reused for other programming for 6 months or longer.

By the 1980's the advertisers began competing to have the best commercial for the Super Bowl. The news media had started doing polls and reviews of the commercials because of the public interest. That was effectively giving the advertisers free air time and they increased their efforts to present the best commercial.

Because the TV ratings continued to increase, the cost for network time slots rose dramatically. Most of the Super Bowl commercials were advertising for large corporations but now and then a small company would spend almost all of their annual advertising budget on a 30 second Super Bowl commercial.

For the first couple of Super Bowls, the cost for a 30 second spot was around $1000. But for the 2012 Super Bowl, the cost has risen to an amazing $3.5 million for 30 seconds.
