I just bought a Nano 6g and noticed it has this fitness software on it. I do a lot of running so it caught my interest. How well does the software actually work? Is it very accurate?

It is not very accurate. and it's not even that precise. (see wikipedia article for the difference).
However it might be good enough. If you are a real "running geek" you 'll want some kind of GPS device. A GPS with a Heart Rate monitor watch is the ultimate running geek instrument.
But if you just want a general idea of your running distances and speeds it's fine. especially if you already have one.
If you're a long distance racer its ok for training but that's about it. If you're running a 5K and your ipod is just 5% off. your ipod will have the finish line about 250M off.

I have a pair of Nike Shox's and they were great until thye got old. I have had my on the nike 360. I need something that will be comforttable and give me great support through out my workouts.

Look around your area for a specialty running store, the one around here watches the way you run then help you choose a shoe that would best help you. They usually charge way higher, so just remember the name and buy the same shoes online.
